6/14/2007 - 7:55 pm

My sister was retarded once, it was tough on us. please don't use hateful words in public postings.

6/14/2007 - 7:54 pm

Sorry. Retarded. Not "the retarded."

6/14/2007 - 7:54 pm

Whoever just asked about Roberts Rules of Order is the retarded. Seriously? Check out the Rules of the House or Deschler's Precedents.

6/14/2007 - 7:53 pm

how is it procedurally possible to put E&W earmarks into another approps bill and then later attach them back to E&W before it goes to the Senate?  Does anyone on The Hill own a copy of Roberts Rules of Order?

6/14/2007 - 7:51 pm

Did anyone catch that list of amendments allowed?

A crap load

6/14/2007 - 7:41 pm

is this about to fall apart again?

6/14/2007 - 7:38 pm

Did anyone catch that list of amendments allowed?

6/14/2007 - 7:38 pm

Obey just farted on the House floor as he was speaking, loudly apparently.

6/14/2007 - 7:30 pm

Dems don't know how to run this place!

6/14/2007 - 7:22 pm

6/14/2007 - 7:08 pm

6/14/2007 - 6:59 pm

Plan was...4 hours in UC on agreed upon amendments which will be debated completely tonight and moved to passage

Milcon/VA will have similar rule tomorrow..... however, it appears it may all be falling apart...

6/14/2007 - 6:55 pm

anyone have any idea how much time for debate is in the uc?

6/14/2007 - 6:36 pm

according to Boehner's office they're planning a UC on homeland security tonight

6/14/2007 - 6:28 pm

generally*

6/14/2007 - 6:21 pm

rumor on the Hill generall = truth or as close as things ever come to it

6/14/2007 - 6:21 pm

rumor = conjecture

6/14/2007 - 6:20 pm

rumor has it that Rules is meeting in about 5 minutes...

6/14/2007 - 6:18 pm

well, the bells just rung so wait 15 minutes and you'll see

6/14/2007 - 6:18 pm

does anybody actually have any information on what's going on in the House  that isn't conjecture?

6/14/2007 - 6:14 pm

Stop Byrd.  Please Byrd, stop.  What the hell are you talking about?  You make Domenici sound coherent.

6/14/2007 - 6:10 pm

i've heard this is all cuz Hoyer is siding w/ the GOP...maybe a little transparency ain't so bad after all?

6/14/2007 - 6:06 pm

okay, that's a priceless picture.

6/14/2007 - 6:04 pm

the lack of approps stuff today is pissing me off like no other

6/14/2007 - 6:03 pm

the DHS approps stuff is pissing me off like no other.

6/14/2007 - 6:01 pm

6/14/2007 - 5:58 pm

6/14/2007 - 5:58 pm

When will this stalemate END?!

6/14/2007 - 5:56 pm

6/14/2007 - 5:52 pm

Yes there is, it's called a "Young Democrat"

6/14/2007 - 5:49 pm

I don't even care about dirt, how about some frickin' information!!

6/14/2007 - 5:47 pm

kegs and babes

6/14/2007 - 5:46 pm

Please does anyone have the dirt on what's happening tonight in the house?

6/14/2007 - 5:45 pm

i love tucker carlson.

6/14/2007 - 5:45 pm

where are these gay staffers?

6/14/2007 - 5:44 pm

i hate the turkey comercials and the paris hilton coverage. wtf?

6/14/2007 - 5:38 pm

does anyone out there hate the jitterbug and turkey comercials on cnn as much as i do?

6/14/2007 - 5:37 pm

seersucker = good; seersucker mini-skirts = great

6/14/2007 - 5:35 pm

there is nothing worse than a young republican

6/14/2007 - 5:35 pm

re. gay staffers - if you look at the demographics of the gay community (re. education and location) and then look at the demographics of the average hill staffer it might help you.  20% is probably not far off for the total % of GLBT hill staffers.

6/14/2007 - 5:34 pm

Dear Interns: Just because you bought it at J. Crew, does not mean it's work appropriate.

6/14/2007 - 5:27 pm

if there is anything that doesn't make sense, it's probably big in the south i.e., croakies and seersucker suits

6/14/2007 - 5:27 pm

totally nerd-tastic. I like this nonsensical rambling

6/14/2007 - 5:26 pm

<--in favor of banning seersucker

6/14/2007 - 5:25 pm

things that need to be eradicated from the hill:
1)seersucker
2) ill-fitting suits
3) croakies
4) boat shoes
5) ostentacious class rings
6) awkward people
7) senate bean soup
8) madras
9) self-proclaimed "southern belles"
10) republicans

6/14/2007 - 5:23 pm

In all seriousness, does anyone else here feel like a large number of 20-something male hill staffers are gay?  I'm not saying ALL of them, just a higher average like 1 out of 4 instead of the regular 1 in 10.  Just walking down the hallways it seems there's a lot of guys scoping guys, almost equal to Dupont.  Not that I'm complaining.

6/14/2007 - 5:21 pm

the senate is better than the house

6/14/2007 - 5:19 pm

The Hill should start a "Worst Dressed" column...

Let's not be hasty and start knocking seersucker...

6/14/2007 - 5:18 pm

If some must have threading, how about color codes...We're working on something close to that.

6/14/2007 - 5:18 pm

how old is too old?

6/14/2007 - 5:14 pm

hallelujah hollaback

6/14/2007 - 5:14 pm

totally... does anyone remember the "skinterns" story on CNN last summer?

6/14/2007 - 5:14 pm

If you are old and on this website, you are lame

6/14/2007 - 5:13 pm

I am pro-mini skirt

6/14/2007 - 5:10 pm

and the old hill staffers are...

6/14/2007 - 5:08 pm

The Hill should start a "Worst Dressed" column...it should run in contrast to the 'Top 50" Shame on staffers with mini-skirts and full seersucker suits -- this is DC...not a country club in South Carolina...

6/14/2007 - 5:07 pm

Man...young hill staffers are unbelievably lame...

6/14/2007 - 5:05 pm

Ok, interesting new idea in blogging

NERD ALERT!

6/14/2007 - 5:02 pm

Ok, interesting new idea in blogging - but run with it,
don't gum it up to look like every other discussion site - this stream of consciousness
is actually quite interesting.  If some must have threading, how about
color codes - when a post is replied to, assign it a color (either a bar along
the side or back shading) so the random comments remain white and if you want
to follow a specific thread read all the pink, green or teal messages (you
could probably get away with 32 or so shades an then recycle.  That
preserves the ability to read this stream of consciousness, which is really the
interesting thing about the site - if it was just another blog comment site I
might not keep checking it.

6/14/2007 - 5:00 pm

you're right.  a do-nothing congress is better than a bad congress (see: last 14 years)

6/14/2007 - 4:58 pm

I saw a Hill staffer wearing a skirt that came--no joke--just 3 inches below her butt.  And I don't even think she was an intern.  Message to this lady:  wear a thong next time!

6/14/2007 - 4:47 pm

I fail to see how a do-nothing congress is bad right now. I'd rather they do nothing than do a lot of bad.

6/14/2007 - 4:32 pm

thank god, another way for Members of Congress to avoid doing work

6/14/2007 - 4:17 pm

Oh, thank God!  Another way for my staff to avoid doing work!

6/14/2007 - 4:15 pm

4:00 PM... "One Minutes" done... Anyone feel useful today?

6/14/2007 - 4:13 pm

Really people?  We're going to get out of the energy crunch by suing OPEC under the Sherman Anti-Trust Act?  Do the sponsors even think this could possibly do anything?  Saudia Arabia is just going to show up in US Courts?  This is a good use of time.

6/14/2007 - 3:56 pm

Seriously, I'm a Senate Democrat, and it's a fiasco. Nothing is getting done. No change.

6/14/2007 - 3:13 pm

All this talk about a super secret slush fund makes me want a Slurpee.

6/14/2007 - 3:10 pm

Oh thanks, Deal or No Deal reminds me! I have to print my cards out for National Bingo Night.

6/14/2007 - 3:00 pm

Is anyone in charge around here?  Apparently we're all on Deal or No Deal...but there's no money in any of the cases!  I'm sick and tired of the do nothing Congress - and that's been the last year of our lives.  How many bills have we passed into actual law in the past 15 calendar months?  Anybody know?  I'm bettin not many.  Both sides suck.  Hooray for independent thinkers and bipartisan efforts - wherever they may be!

6/14/2007 - 2:45 pm

Phil Mickelson is going bowling today.

6/14/2007 - 2:22 pm

Fox News gets it.  If you can't blame Bush, blame the Iraqis. Levin and others have been doing the same thing. It's pretty disgraceful.

6/14/2007 - 2:13 pm

My intern is probably scared of cotton balls.

6/14/2007 - 2:11 pm

The chick on Maury today was scared of cotton balls!!

6/14/2007 - 2:10 pm

Libby in Jail!

"Freedom is on the march..."

6/14/2007 - 1:37 pm

i think there are 2-3 interns here scared of phone answering

6/14/2007 - 1:26 pm

Fox News gets it.  If you can't blame Bush, blame the Iraqis.

6/14/2007 - 1:13 pm

No, the Lobbyists are not done fucking the American people...give it a few Billion more...

6/14/2007 - 1:11 pm

Can we please, please get these approps bills done already?

6/14/2007 - 12:57 pm

Seriously. He "didn't feel comfortable" picking up the phone.

6/14/2007 - 12:39 pm

You'd think that answering a phone would be a pretty easy thing to do, but not for everyone.

6/14/2007 - 12:37 pm

My intern is driving me nuts. He's a fucking idiot.

6/14/2007 - 12:10 pm

My office is drafting a letter chastising the Iraqi government for taking their two month recess. Seems sort of pointless.

6/14/2007 - 12:07 pm

domenici on the floor. he seems unhinged.

6/14/2007 - 11:58 am

Do any federal pension plans invest in Iran?

6/14/2007 - 11:05 am

Perez Hilton, Jossip.

6/14/2007 - 10:08 am

I'm lame. Talkingpointsmemo, Yglesias, Kevin Drum, The Corner

6/14/2007 - 9:54 am

I'll go first: Milkandcookies.com thatvideosite.com(somtimes nsfw) and of course myspace and facebook

6/14/2007 - 9:41 am

Committee Detailee, I think you speak for us all.

6/14/2007 - 9:36 am

Hostess Suzy-Q's with the "Moustest"? Heh.

6/14/2007 - 9:18 am

Dear Slack-jawed, mouth-breathing tourons:

Stop clogging the Dirksen hallways in hordes so that I may get to my office without bouncing off of your too-large-for-the-clothes-you're-wearing body-with-pale-bellyflab-needlessly-exposed* so that I may enjoy some frivoulous banality.

Your Moust Obdient & Humble Political Servant,

Committee Detailee (not even a staffer)
__________
* I didn't need to see that.

6/14/2007 - 9:17 am

Good point. We're working on it.

6/14/2007 - 9:15 am

This web site needs some functionality, like the ability to categorize messages into various subject threads. Who's got time to scroll through this stuff, most of what is frivilous banality?

6/14/2007 - 9:12 am

Who's eating all the Hostess Suzy-Qs in the Russell basement snack machine?

6/14/2007 - 9:09 am
