The commenters aren't kind to Ginny Brown: http://wonkette.com/politics/snorg-tees-dept%27/help-wanted-nerds-a-plus...

The protest, organized by Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER), begins with a rally near the White House, continues with a march to the U.S. Capitol, and concludes with a "die-in" that organizers estimate will involve approximately 1,000 people lying down near the Capitol in a symbolic effort to represent dead U.S. soldiers and dead Iraqis.

Adam Kokesh, co-chair of Iraq Veterans Against the War, said civil disobedience was necessary because "asking, pleading, begging for change is not sufficient." He said participants in the protest are "willing to step it up, they're willing to make sacrifices."
He said the demonstration would send a message to elected officials that "if you do not take our demands seriously, we will be in the streets, we will be shutting down the machine."
Thats such a horrible horrible picture...so sad...
That's amazing. It reminds me of that Brownback press conference.
Dolphin
Stadium in Miami is all but deserted for the Nationals' game against
the Marlins. "It was so sad," Nats Manager Manny Acta said of the
atmosphere.
And while McKinney is out, Petraus may be in:
The US commander in Iraq, General David Petraeus, expressed
long-term interest in running for the US presidency when he was
stationed in Baghdad, according to a senior Iraqi official who knew him
at that time.
Sabah
Khadim, then a senior adviser at Iraq's Interior Ministry, says General
Petraeus discussed with him his ambition when the general was head of
training and recruitment of the Iraqi army in 2004-05.
"I asked him if he was planning to run in 2008 and he said, 'No,
that would be too soon'," Mr Khadim, who now lives in London, said.
General Petraeus has a reputation in the US Army for being a man of
great ambition. If he succeeds in reversing America's apparent failure
in Iraq, he would be a natural candidate for the White House in the
presidential election in 2012.
this is a real pity: Cynthia McKinney has decided to withdraw from the 2008 presidential race. http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/shared-blogs/ajc/politicalinsider/entri...
Thank you, Joe Lieberman. Now we know you're good for something.
i can't believe that wasn't taken before...good grab camp Warner.
Mark Warner's camp issued a release this a.m. from the easy-to-remember email address: press@gmail.com.
How is it that Sen. Thune is always tan?
Zhong Chen <3's NY.
Thad Cochran is reluctant to fill Craig's role as ranking member on Interior Appriopriations subcommittee, which I suppose is some indication that he supports Craig.
Ted Stevens, Jim Bunning and Mike Enzi, according to this: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/09/06/gop-senators-hold-spirit...
Napoleon Dynamite, totally overrated.
Who are the Craig defenders in the GOP caucus? I know that Arlen Specter has come to his defense. Are there any others?
I don't know. I can't tell, but it looks pretty legit. Pretty shocking.
uhhhh is this real??? http://marryourdaughter.org/
Guess what's not funny? Napoleon Dynamite.
that's pretty funny.
Posted on House.gov:
"Congresswoman Ginny Brown (R-FL) seeks a Legislative Assistant
to handle her Homeland Security Committee work and other issues as
assigned. Candidate must be hard-working, have a cheerful personality,
be extremely well-organized, and know how to cook a delicious bass."
They should start naming hurricanes and tropical storms after senators (e.g., Tropical Storm Larry Craig, Hurricane David Vitter).
When it comes to adjournment dates, you have to take the glass-half-empty view of things. I agree. December 7th is the date.
In the Senate we're shooting for Nov. 16th, but that's kind of the "yeah, right" date. The alt adjournment date is December 7th. In my opinion, if we put off work on an omnibus or consolidated approps bill into mid november, we'll probably be in on saturday the 8th. But I'm also a glass half empty kinda guy.
When do you all think the adjournment date will be?
Rep. Tom Lantos has been taking hits from conservatives for his stance on the Iraq War, but some of the California Democrat's staffers are wondering whether the angry callers contacting the office haven't been taking a few hits (perhaps of something mind-altering) themselves...
A few fave snippets from the Lantso camp:
"Your boss couldn't hold my son's jock strap."
"I know Tom Lantos had something to do with the general's microphone not working."
I'd hardly describe those as unusual calls. They sound fairly typical for our office.
I feel for his staffers. I wouldn't know what to do in their situation.
Um, I would... I'd look for another job...
It's looks as though House will be in session the week of October 8, while the Senate will be in recess.
