The Senate rejected 28-68 an amendment to the fiscal 2008 Defense spending bill that would have barred funds from being spent on combat operations in Iraq after June 30.

I can’t stand veterans. On every issue they feel obligated to let you know that they are a veteran "I'm a veteran and I want to tell the senator that I'm mad that the bridge collapsed." Ok what the fuck does that have to do with any thing? Or the ever popular "My Grandpa fought in WWII and he didn’t fight for no North American Union." They whine more than any other group. I understand you served, but the reason it is admirable is that it involved sacrifice. When you flaunt that sacrifice or demand to be compensated for it then it loses all of its nobility and is no better than just another job. It was worth my years in the military just to be able to look them in the eye and say "Well as a veteran I don’t give a damn."
It may be helpful if they would tell us specifically where it happened... there are like 34 ladies rooms in Hart alone, and probably 20ish in dirksen...

I think that there should be a hard rule about how many "unsolicited" emails an interest group can send you in a day. I never said that I wanted to get your emails, you just put my name on the list. My guess is that you did this so that you can show your boss your extensive list of Capitol Hill contacts as evidence of the influence you wield on Capitol Hill. But here is the secret: I barely have the time to read the emails that I do request, so I really do not have time to read unsolicited emails from people I don't know, especially when you are sending me 3-5 a day. (and trust me you are not the only organization that does this.) I doubt that your boss would be really happy with you if he knew the ACTUAL influence that you are having on me. (Trust me it isn't good.) I am also not persuaded by your suggestion that "you thought I might be interested in the attached." Given that you are sending me a mass email and you don't actually know me, you clearly haven't thought about my specific interests or the needs of my specific boss. And quite frankly, I find your constant suggestions about how I can do my job better to be condescending. If I didn't have to spend so much time deleting emails because my inbox is so full of unsolicited mail that I can't send anything out, I would probably be a lot better at my job. If you know so much about communicating on Capitol Hill, why aren't you working here? But that is just me ranting and I would feel bad asking you to take me off your list. I wouldn't want it to reflect negatively on my boss and you would probably just put me on again next month. So, how about just condensing everything you want to tell me into 1 email a day versus the 3-5 that you send me? I don't think that is too much to ask. And while I am still not sure that I would actually read the email, the one email would be easier for me to delete and I would be much less likely to hate your organization. I have to admit, I am in my late twenties, and you really start to notice the stark drop off in typing accuracy that has occurred. How many of your schools actually required a typing class (not a computer class). Mine Did.
I mean, I am not perfect and still type some things incorrectly, misspellings etc, but I have to say that this board really shows what happens without spell checking nowadays. Even beyond spellcheck, substituting homophones for each other is really disturbing.
I'd really hope that "Your boss wants a well written memo" would look really wrong to most people... to the others, ask and i'll tell you what's wrong.

Office Building are the work of a vandal whom the Capitol Police nabbed
in the act.

outside, allegedly throwing bricks at the building’s windows. Police
